Response to Martinez from the Local Pro-Life Movement

Steve Martinez and pro-abortion advocates have adapted and normalized “pro-choice” to mean specifically that one is in favor of and advances the cause for legal and unlimited access to abortion. Abortion is commonly defined as the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo, resulting in or caused by its death. Logically, it follows that abortion is the select murder of a specific class of human beings…those that are in the earliest stages of development and are dependent solely on their mother for life sustaining nurturing and protection. Pro-lifers do not choose to hide behind rhetorical smoke and mirrors but are very upfront that we choose that life should be granted to all human beings from conception to natural death. Hence the term pro-life.
We could also be titled anti-abortion because we feel this “procedure” for the taking of a human life is unjust and should never encompass the norms of a civilized society. To state that we are anti-choice is an affront on our view of truth. It is the child, with the most at stake, at this point in their life who has no choice. And while a mother, in our current culture of death, can make the decision to have an abortion, legally, the father has zero rights regarding the continuation of the life of his child.
The early deception of abortionists in regards to what their craft entailed might have been palatable to an uneducated public at one point. The unborn child as a clump of cells or tissue; just medical waste. With today’s scientific advancements, one can no longer be convinced that destroying a pre-born human baby is simple the same things as say removing a wart. Pro-abortionists…you are losing the war because the murky screen of smoke and mirrors has been pierced by truth. Our weapons are prayer and the ultrasound machines whereby every new parent can view and interact with their tiny child. To see and listen to a heartbeat that cries out “I am here” cannot be denied. What rational person would claim that abortion does not end a life? A life that we believe has a right to continue to exist.
As to Steve’s specific and inflammatory charges against us, as I must assume he is referring in some part to the 40 Days for Life Campaign that prayed outside of his wife, Susan Cahill’s “All Families Healthcare” abortion clinic. Recently we prayed and stood in public witness for the forty consecutive days of September 23rd through November 1st. We will again resume a vigil of prayer beginning on February 17th through March 28th aligned with the period of time know by Christians as Lent.
In no instance did we incite violence. A condition of participation was to remain peaceful even when we had violence instigated against us. For ex., two elderly women graciously endured a water balloon assault very early one cold Sunday morning from local teens. What a brave act to drive by harassing and intimidating grandmothers. Your parents must be extremely proud.
I know of no instance whereby a participant chanted death or murder to the abortionist or staff. But we did sing hymns praising God and country such as Amazing Grace and America the Beautiful.
I assumed nearly all medical students graduated from this extensive educational period with some debt. Does Steve maintain that it is free for all except abortionists? That they alone have been unduly burdened and need relief from the financial consequences of their career choice? If you cannot find jobs and willing customers either via hospitals or individuals then perhaps your career as an abortionist is what needs to be evaluated.
Steve, I note that you claim you are respectful of our opinion…I could clearly see that by your referral to our position as extremist and hateful. This is made apparent by your unfounded and untrue accusations of aggressive civil disobedience, blockading of the clinic, intimidation tactics and violence.
On the contrary, we did not violate any laws by our prayerful presence and by our exercised right to freedom of speech. However, you pro-abortionists are rabidly working to end our freedom to oppose what we consider to be immoral. You would even quote to us the golden rule…do unto others as you would have others do unto you….I cannot imagine having my limbs torn from my body and my head crushed by a strong metal instrument being viewed as non-violent, compassionate or loving. I cannot comprehend that I would ever wish this inhumane deed on another person. I cannot imagine that the pre-born baby would wish this on itself either.
